My Skincare Routine

Friday, 27 March 2015
During my teens, I never really cared about the importance of skincare. I was aware of my oily/combo skin but was fortunate enough to barely have any breakouts very often.

As I grow older (and when I say older, I mean when I was 17-ish y/o), I just decided that it's time I took a step further in my skincare.

I'm used to heavily rely on a particular brand of facial wash but realized that it wasn't working for me (or that the progress was really slow) so I did quite a lot of switching in between and finally found the perfect products for my face.

Though I have to admit that I do not religiously apply them all everyday :p

In my own personal opinion, I do find that it is so darn hard to find the perfect makeup remover. I was actually looking for one from Ponds but they were sold out so the salesgirl recommended me one from Ingrid Cosmetics. This only cost me $8 at Venus. It has a lotion like consistency and I do prefer this one as compared to others which are oil based (although they do a fairly great job at removing makeup but takes forever to rinse off).

I got these facial wipes from Target which obviously, I do not solely rely on. In case you're wondering, I bought these while I was in Australia. These wipes opposed to other regular ones as it claims to exfoliate the skin - like how a scrub would. I have to admit that it can be pretty uncomfortable when I rub the wipe on my face but I do use this to remove any stubborn makeup (like mascara and eyeliner) because I wouldn't want to get any makeup remover into my eyes!

My Clinique Liquid Facial Soap would have to be my favourite. It caters to different kinds of skin types from dry to oily/combo and let me just say that this has done wonders to my skin and I do notice my face getting lesser shine without any dryness. I bought this one at Sephora for $30+ and I do believe that it's worth the investment. I've used this for roughly five months now and it's still more than half full!

Toners are used to bring your skin's pH back to the normal range as it can escalate to an unhealthy range after cleansing. I'm using one from Michael Todd and yes, this isn't available in Singapore also. I have a cousin who's skin type is similar to mine and she highly recommended this one. It has a rather therapeutic tea-tree scent and of course, a liquid like consistency.

Tip: Pour some of your toner on a cotton pad and stretch it to increase the surface area.

Of course after applying my toner, there's my moisturizers. My day moisturizer is from The Body Shop under their seaweed range. It indeed leaves my skin more matte and it has a cooling sensation after applying - definitely something we all need in this tropical weather.

My night moisturizer is also from The Body Shop. I definitely feel my skin more hydrated and fresh when I wake up. My face has this funny thing of adapting to whatever products I use but the moment I stop using it, it goes back to it's old oily stage. So even if I forgotten to apply my toner or day moisturizer, my skin still won't be as bad.

That's about it for my skincare! Till next time lovelies Xx
