Hello October

Monday, 6 October 2014

Greetings sunshines!

I honestly can't remember the last time I appreciated weekends. It feels like it has been a loooong week. But anyways, just a few more working days till our two weeks break so hang in there guys!

Anyways, I'm sure all of you would know that this period would always be my favourite part of the year because it is my birthday month! Apart from that, I actually do love Halloween too which is completely absurd because I'm a scaredy cat. For real though, the last horror movie I watched was with the Fire Nation and honestly, I was scared as hell and you all have no idea how much I tried to keep it cool!

But anyways, I just loved how different everything is every year during October. I actually had a last minute Halloween themed birthday party at my aunt's place when I was 18!

Really wish I could have a big party this year but I'm just gonna save it for my 21st ;)

On a side note, I honestly can't believe that I'll be out of my teenage years in like a couple of weeks. I used to be so excited when my birthday approaches and I still am but oh gosh, I just loved being a teenager and I must say that I'm gonna miss being one.

I find that being a teen is all about being reckless and making mistakes and taking chances and falling in and out of love. It's where you're neither a child nor an adult. Everything always seems like a big deal even when it's not. There was a point of time in our lives when we couldn't wait to grow up but now, all we want is to go back - not that it's possible.

Life has been good and it still is. I would prolly say the same thing roughly ten years from now when I'm turning 30 (wts!). Then again, maybe I'd be married with a kid by then or travelling around the world or pursuing an advanced diploma (because bleh degree) and I would hopefully have accomplished more things by then.

I am still sad for the fact that my teenage years will be over soon. Nonetheless, I'd always treasure the sweet and sour moments - like when it felt like the end of the world when I was 12 but it all got better in secondary school, my first real relationship and when my closest friends were there for me when I was heartbroken at 15, when a schoolmate blogged nasty things about me when I was 17 and surprisingly, a lot of people had my back. From trying to fit in and realizing that I didn't have to when I entered poly. From getting so many nieces and nephews along the way. From my first trip outside of Asia. All that, to becoming who I am now.

I didn't really have a smooth sailing life while I was growing up and I'm sure all of you had your fair share of bad days too. But without the bad days, you will never appreciate the good ones, and there are so many good days.

There we have it. My annual post about growing up just because I'm closer to getting a year older during this period. Cheers to hoping that my twenties will bring me more love and optimism :)

With that, I wish all of you a spooky and blessed October! Have a great week ahead! Xx

After Us

Greetings sunshines!

I remembered watching this video a thousand times and recommending it to almost anyone I know though I am aware that none of them actually took the effort to watch it. Anyways, I gave work a miss today which only means one thing - replacement on Saturday. Oh gosh, just the thought of it, sigh. But I have been hearing good things about the ward so I really hope that all will go well for the next three weeks, Insha Allah :)

Shall keep it short since I did absolutely nothing today. So here's the video I've been telling everyone about ;)

Have a great week ahead lovelies!

My Sister Turns 17.

Greetings starshines!

I went for an extremely minimalist approach for my blogskin this time round because I was already bored of the old one and I can't find any nice blogskins elsewhere (actually I can but they're just too complex) so I just went ahead and use what was already provided for blogger.

Anyways, my family and I went to badoque a week ago to celebrate my sister's birthday and I was pretty excited because firstly, it seemed like I have yet to visit a cafe in ages and second, I bought a cake I knew she would love :)

As usual, everything's pretty overpriced nowadays but I can assure you that this one is worth it :)

The salted caramel beverage was truly to die for! It had the right amount of sweet and salty in it.

We had these cute shrimp wrapped in potato thing as appetizers. This might be a bias opinion as I love potatoes, but these were just superb!

And then the main courses arrived, which were mainly steak. I'd highly suggest that you share this with someone if you're not a big meat lover. Nonetheless, it was delicious!

Opening Hours: 12pm to 11pm

We went back home for a proper celebration with the cake I ordered from mysisterbakes :)

She was actually really excited about the cake and I know most of you has seen this if you follow me on twitter but the chocolates in the middle of the cake just adds a different kind of flavour to the lychee filling.

And yes, I literally meant chocolates!

It looks so scrumptious, I can still taste the cake in my mouth! *slurps*

Thank you Esther for baking such a wonderful cake! Do check her social medias if you're interested to try out some of her bakes :)

Weekend Woes

Saturday, 13 September 2014

I have always been aware of how little readers I have but I still try my best to get my points across anyways. I don't know if I'm saying this because I'm stressed nor do I know how many people will agree with me on this but anyways, here goes.

I'm currently at that point of time in my life where I just feel, lost.

I entered polytechnic loving doing what I do but somehow rather, it just doesn't feel that way anymore. I say this here rather than to tell anyone because they're gonna say things like "when you graduate, you're gonna realize that it's all worth it" but like what Brandon said from Easy A, it's like I'm being suffocated, and sure we can sit and fantasize all we want about how things are going to be different one day, but this is today and it sucks.

I grew up thinking that future financial security is one of the most important things - even if you have hate what you do. It all seemed manageable at first but now, everyday before work, I feel more afraid of screwing up than actually caring for people and I just don't want to feel that way now and for the next three years.

I wanna do something I love and quite frankly speaking, I've met people who love what they do. I saw a movie once which quoted: I'd rather do nothing and be happy, than to do something that I don't love and at this point right now, not doing what I do makes me happy.

We all know that's all a fantasy and we know that doing nothing leads us nowhere. But I strongly believe that we all exist to do what we love, and a wise man once said, if you love your job, you don't have to work for the rest of your life.

There's a $32, 000 penalty if I were to ever give up. I can't decide if that day when the hospital decided to take me in was the best or worst day of my life. So for that, and just for that, I'm not gonna give up.

Here's to serve as a reminder for anyone, especially myself, that is to choose a path you love because I learned that over the past few years that happiness is much more important than wealth.

Maybe one day when I'm old, I'm gonna look back and realize how extremely impractical I was but again, this is today and it sucks.

*edit*
I came across typicalben's blog after posting this blog post so if you need a somewhat similar view from someone influential, click here :)

Ending off with a quote on my desk

Have a great weekend lovelies :)
